Namibia Fly-In — Sossusvlei, Damaraland & Etosha · 8 Nights
AskAnt Set Package · Fly-In · Namibia

The oldest desert on Earth — from 3,000 feet up.

Namibia by road is gravel, gravel, and more gravel. Namibia by light aircraft is 55-million-year-old dunes at sunrise, star-beds on the Skeleton Coast by sunset, and a black rhino at Ongava's waterhole before the second glass of wine. Nine days, three iconic regions, one Cessna Caravan and a pilot who knows every airstrip. This is the Namibia arc Ant sends to guests who value time as much as scenery.

Why we shaped it this way

The essentials, unmoved.

This is an AskAnt set package — the hotels, routing and inclusions on this page are the ones we run. Ant can shape a fully custom trip around it (dates, add-ons, party size), but the bones of this journey stay as published.

  • Sossusvlei · 3 nights. Deadvlei, Big Daddy dune (325 m), Sesriem Canyon, e-bikes.
  • Damaraland · 2 nights. Desert-adapted elephant tracking, Twyfelfontein rock art (UNESCO).
  • Etosha (private reserve) · 3 nights. Ongava's own waterhole — black rhino, lion, elephant on your deck.

The plan

Day by day.

  1. Day 1
    Windhoek → Sossusvlei

Meet & greet at Hosea Kutako International, light-aircraft transfer south into the NamibRand. Check in at &Beyond Sossusvlei Desert Lodge — 10 suites, retractable star-gazing skylights. Sundowners on the deck.

  2. Day 2
    Sossusvlei

Pre-dawn 4x4 into the park — Deadvlei in first light (this is the shot). Climb Big Daddy if you fancy it. Return to camp for a long, slow breakfast. Afternoon: private stargazing session — the lodge sits in one of the darkest skies on Earth.

  3. Day 3
    Sossusvlei

Sesriem Canyon walk, guided e-bike ride across the reserve, or a hot-air balloon over the dunes (optional — see Ant's Extras). Bush dinner under the stars.

  4. Day 4
    Sossusvlei → Damaraland

Scenic light-aircraft transfer north, tracking the Skeleton Coast en route. Check in at Damaraland Camp (Wilderness) — 10 tents on a Torra Conservancy joint venture. Afternoon nature drive.

  5. Day 5
    Damaraland

Full-day tracking desert-adapted elephants with the Save the Elephants team. Visit to Twyfelfontein rock art (UNESCO World Heritage) with a Damara guide.

  6. Day 6
    Damaraland → Etosha (Ongava)

Fly across to Ongava Private Reserve, bordering Etosha NP. Check in at Ongava Lodge — the waterhole is right there, floodlit through the night. Evening game drive on the private reserve.

  7. Day 7
    Ongava / Etosha

Full-day game drive into Etosha National Park — the salt pan visible from space. Picnic lunch at Okaukuejo. Return to Ongava for sundowners. This is your best rhino day of the trip.

  8. Day 8
    Ongava

Morning walking safari with an armed guide — Namibia is one of the few places you can walk with black rhino present. Afternoon at leisure. Final bush dinner.

  9. Day 9
    Ongava → Windhoek

Light-aircraft back to Windhoek in time for onward international connections.
